---> Open up Urban Spaces

The transnational youth initiative “Open up Urban Spaces” aims at strengthening intercultural exchange of participatory methods by coupling the theory of Open Space Technology to its possible applications within urban spaces.

15 young Europeans coming from GER / FR / IT will participate at a one year training (2010), consiting of 5 meetings, which will take place in Berlin, Turin and Lille. In a first phase, participants will get in contact with local organisations working on urban development topics by using the Open Space Technology. Their role is intended to progressively shift from being external observers, to participants of an Open Space meeting, to finally become facilitators. This final stage will connect the learning outcomes of this training to a real setting. Participants will organise and facilitate an Open Space which will involve citizens of a marginalised district of the city of Lille, to enhance active participation within their urban and social environment and to promote alternative methods to classical decision-making processes.

Furhermore, this transnational initiative aims at establishing a network of young Europeans, to strengthen their professionalisation in the field of participatory methods and to bring new awareness on the main issues concerning urban contexts nowadays on a European level.
