Location
Hohensolms: near Frankfurt (Germany)All modules of the Interactive Workshop of Europe will take place in the cosy and simple environment of an ancient estate in the middle of Germany (Ev. Jugendburg Hohensolms). Hohensolms is situated approx. 80 km north from Frankfurt a.M. between Wetzlar and Gießen. During daytime, several seminar rooms in the adjacent youth castle will be at our disposal. The organizers chose the place deliberately to not only to direct the attention to the essential activities, but also to benefit from the inspiring atmosphere on site. We'll be accommodated in communal bunks. Menus will be prepared by ourselves with varied recipes from all Europe. The participation in cooking activities belongs to the program. Characteristics of the placeTor-Weg-Wohnung is situated above the first archway of the ancient estate and formerly belonged to the servant's part of the castle complex. What was stables where sheep and cattle were quartered in the past, is today converted into simple sanitary facilities. Next to two functional kitchens we'll use numerous polyvalent rooms of different sizes where participants can install their sleeping bags. We will eat in the menial chamber (Knechtskammer) and workshops will take place in the garret (Dachboden), paradise garden (Paradiesgarten) and cowshed loft (Rinderstallboden). Further, a computer room, the courtyard, the hall of the knights and the hayloft will be at our disposal. The aspect of informal learning will be supported by self-catering, which will be assisted by a special kitchen expert. Meals will consist of regional receipts suggested by participants. Also daily work will be shared and we consider this informal time as a very important opportunity for an enriching exchange of ideas. |
